Close to $600,000 for Canadian charities
iA FINANCIAL GROUP CONGRATULATES THE WINNERS OF THE ANNUAL PHILANTHROPIC CONTEST

Quebec City, December 12, 2022 – iA Financial Group extends our congratulations to the charitable organizations Maison Lémerveil Suzanne Vachon in Quebec City (Quebec), the Table Soup Kitchen Foundation in Huntsville (Ontario), the Food Stash Foundation in Vancouver (British Columbia) and the Alzheimer Society (New Brunswick), that have each been awarded a grand prize donation of $105,000 in this 6th edition of our annual philanthropic contest. As competition was very tight, iA Financial Group will double the donation to the eight finalists by awarding them $20,000 each. In total, $580,000 in donations will be given to 12 Canadian charities.

“On behalf of iA Financial Group, I am proud and honoured to announce these major donations to charities that serve many Canadian communities. Each of these charities help people with disabilities, making a real difference in their lives. I want to thank the organizations that took part in the contest and congratulate the winners for their tremendous work. I also thank everyone who took the time to vote. Our annual philanthropic contest will be back next year, and I will once again invite Canadian charities to participate in large numbers.”, states Denis Ricard, President and CEO of iA Financial Group.

Remember that the winning charities are those that received the most votes from the Canadian public from among the twelve contest finalists. They each received a donation of $100,000. In addition to the $100,000 awarded to the winning organizations, iA Financial Group donated an additional $5,000 on behalf of its employees, who were called on to vote for their favourite projects from each region.

WINNING CHARITIES (from west to east)

  • FOOD STASH FOUNDATION (VANCOUVER, B.C.)

Food Stash reduces food waste and food insecurity. We rescue over 80,000 pounds of surplus food per month (for example, imperfect produce and surplus dairy) from retailers, wholesalers, and farms. Food Stash delivers weekly customized boxes of healthy food to 110 food-insecure households with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities. It runs a “pay-what-you-feel” Rescued Food Market open to all, serving more than 100 people a week. It delivers food to 35 charitable partners collectively serving more than 14,000 people a week. A donation would go towards Rescued Food Box deliveries supporting food-insecure Vancouverites with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses that make it challenging to leave home.

  • TABLE SOUP KITCHEN FOUNDATION (HUNTSVILLE, ONT.)

The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation’s mission is to serve the hurting, hungry, and homeless people in its community who are dealing with food insecurity, illness, disabilities, addictions, and chronic unemployment. It provides a weekly Food Bank, Soup Kitchen, Exchange Clothing and Household items store, and a Men’s Shelter. A donation would enable the Foundation to carry out work to make its establishment more accessible to people with reduced mobility.

  • MAISON LÉMERVEIL SUZANNE VACHON (QUEBEC CITY, QUE.)

Maison Lémerveil Suzanne Vachon provides youths living with multiple disabilities and children with severe illnesses with respite care and pediatric palliative care throughout their life. A donation would help provide more specialized daytime respite and tailored activities for children with severe illnesses and youths with multiple and severe disabilities. The cash donation would also be used to support families so that members can pursue their professional life and take a well-deserved rest.

  • ALZHEIMER SOCIETY (FREDERICTON, N.B.)

The Alzheimer Society’s mission is to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias through the provision of support, education, and advocacy and to promote the search for a cause and a cure. A donation would go towards creating dementia-friendly communities in New Brunswick, places where people living with dementia, their families, and care partners feel included and supported.

THE OTHER FINALISTS
The eight remaining finalists will each receive $20,000: the CNIB Foundation in Edmonton (ALTA.), the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation (CRF) in Winnipeg (MAN.), Hydrocephalus Canada (HC) in Etobicoke (ONT.), March of Dimes Canada (MODC) in Toronto (ONT.), the Association québécoise des personnes aphasiques (AQPA) in Montreal (QUE.), L’Arche Lanaudière in Joliette (QUE.), Upper Valley Autism Resource Centre Inc. in Perth-Andover (N.B.) and LakeCity Works in Darmouth (N.S.).

Remember that over 200 charities that support people with disabilities* and their communities answered iA Financial Group’s call last September. A jury analyzed all the projects we received from across the country, and selected twelve finalists, which were submitted to the public vote. Participating charities were grouped into four major regions (Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada/the North) in order to guarantee a fairer distribution of donations across the country.

Quebec’s largest truck dealer acquires Tardif Diesel in Estrie
GLOBOCAM PURSUES ITS QUEBEC EXPANSION

Quebec, September 20, 2022 — GLOBOCAM, Quebec’s largest heavy truck dealership network, announced today that it has acquired Tardif Diesel in Estrie, an established family business, which specializes in the sale and repair of Freightliner and Western Star heavy trucks. The acquisition of Tardif Diesel, which was founded in 1981 by Mr. Gaston Tardif and Mrs. Gaétane Plamondon at Ascot Corner, enables GLOBOCAM to strengthen its brand and to expand its presence in the province.

Customers at the rebranded Estrie site, which will be known as GLOBOCAM Estrie, have been adapting smoothly to the transition which began in July, as has the rejuvenated team and its new general manager, Dominique Beauregard. “With more than 20 years of experience in management positions, including 15 years as General Manager of heavy truck dealerships, Dominique is the perfect person to lead this team of experts,” said Maxime Boyer, GLOBOCAM’s Vice-President and CEO.

“We are pleased to be able to better serve our customers with this acquisition in Estrie and to simultaneously strengthen our brand. The addition of Dominique to the team, who is an experienced manager in the field, will enable us to extend and standardize GLOBOCAM’s service into another region of Quebec and to attract additional talent,” said Mr. Boyer.

“I am very proud to take on the General Manager role, to be part of the GLOBOCAM family and to contribute to its growth and expansion. Customer service has always been my first priority and I intend to maintain that focus going forward. For example, this transaction enables the GLOBOCAM Estrie team to make available new Freightliner trucks directly in the Estrie region,” said Dominique Beauregard, GLOBOCAM Estrie General Director.

“Tardif Diesel is a family business that has built up a solid team and a more than three-decade long track record. These include approximately thirty professionals who are experts in their fields and passionate about what they do. The human side of GLOBOCAM and its vision of service care are strong selling points in attracting new talent. I’m excited to see what the company that was started and built by my parents will be able to accomplish in terms of growth during the coming years,” says Mr. Jean-Marc Tardif, President, who had taken over the family business in recent years.

A PLAN THAT CONTINUES
GLOBOCAM stepped up its growth trajectory rapidly after it acquired dealers in Quebec City and Lévis in 2016, and in the Beauce region in 2021. With this new acquisition, the company now has more than 500 employees across the province spread out in eight locations. GLOBOCAM continues to make considerable progress in its objective of delivering 2,500 trucks per year by 2025. The company’s continuous improvement strategy means that it is always on the lookout for business opportunities, ways to expand its service offering, and to better serve its customers.

ABOUT GLOBOCAM
GLOBOCAM which was founded in the Saint-Laurent borough in Montreal, in 1994, has grown over the years into Quebec’s the largest network of heavy truck dealerships. It’s team of more than 500 professionals spread out over eight dealerships, enables the family business to market a broad range of new Freightliner and Western Star trucks, used trucks of all brands, and to offer complete repair and complete maintenance offerings related to these vehicles. GLOBOCAM also operates an extensive parts department and a financing arm.

Theobroma Chocolat launches a first organic, plant-based, Zero sugar chocolate

A world premiere
Theobroma Chocolat launches a first organic, plant-based, Zero sugar chocolate

Quebec (Canada), September 15th, 2022 — Theobroma Chocolat, recognized for its organic chocolate products, is innovating once again through the global launch of Yummy Zero Sugar, a new plant-based, zero sugar, organic chocolate. Social manufacturing has been a key cornerstone of innovation efforts since this Canadian company, which was founded in Quebec, began operations. Two years ago, Theobroma Chocolat challenged its R&D team to create a Zero sugar, nutritious, and delicious-tasting chocolate, and a line of complementary protein chocolate snacks. It took lots of hard work: but mission accomplished!

Yummy Zero Sugar is an indulgent healthy alternative which provides consumers with low to zero sugar options. Our delicious alternatives complement our current collections and align with our quest to be a delicious force for change. We don’t say no to sugar. But we focus our energy on creating healthier indulgence that are fun, care about you, the planet and your eating habits,” says Jean-René Lemire Theobroma Chocolat’s co-president, and co-founder.

Theobroma Chocolat is targeting a growing demand. According to research conducted by Sugarwise, an international certification authority that assesses sugar content in foods and beverages, and Strategy, a consultancy, in 2010, 39% of Canadian consumers said that sugar content was an important criterion that they took into account when selecting foods. By 2017, that number had jumped to 69%. In 2020, fully 72% of Canadians said that low sugar content was a priority and nearly 80% of those surveyed said they wanted to reduce their sugar intake. Experts say that consumers are now taking in 10 times the amount of sugar recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Our Yummy Zero Sugar products won’t fix everything. But they will help consumers meet World Health Organization recommendations! The ingredients have been carefully chosen, are certified organic, and deliver on the same promise as all Theobroma products: pleasure first, enjoy! Yummy Zero Sugar has a rare flavor profile that matches that of dark chocolate with sugar while surpassing the traditional no sugar added chocolate experience. Theobroma Chocolat has achieved this goal with its range of premium certified organic products,” says Josée Vigneault, the company’s co-president and co-founder.

The products Minis with flavours Coconut and Special Dark.

A Canadian and a world premiere
Yummy Zero Sugar is made with an organic and natural sweetener that is rich in vegetable fibers. This fiber derives its content from cassava fibers. These fibers differ from the current sugar-free or sugar-controlled confectionery products that are available on the Canadian market, which use synthetic sweeteners that are hard on the digestive system, and which mask the creamy taste of chocolate.

Theobroma Chocolat will introduce its Yummy Zero Sugar product line to major industry players at the upcoming Canadian Health Food Association Natural Organic Wellness (CHFA NOW) exposition which will take place in Toronto on September 17th and 18th, 2022. The Quebec company also made the short list of confectionery innovations, with its organic plant-based sugar-free chocolate, which were highlighted at the 2022 Sweet Snack Expo in Chicago.

“CHFA NOW is a great venue that Canada’s natural, organic and wellness products developers can leverage to introduce new offerings. We look forward to meeting innovators who are breaking boundaries at this important event,” said Aaron Skelton, CHFA NOW’s President and CEO.

Theobroma Chocolat’s new Yummy Zero Sugar line is available online at www.theobroma.com . The new collection will be launched in October in Chicago, a city which bills itself as “the candy capital of the world.” Shortly after that the products will be available throughout the United States.

About Theobroma Chocolat
Theobroma Chocolat was founded in 2008 in Quebec by Josée Vigneault and Jean-René Lemire. The plant was built around our vision of Getting Smarter Together. Each product that we make must respect the five commandments in our “Chocolate Charter.” These include: Pleasure first, enjoy it! We care about our planet! We care about you and future generations! We say no to artificial flavors! We say no to GMOs!

Theobroma Chocolat is a recognized leader in the North American organic and fair-trade gourmet chocolate industry. We are constantly on the lookout for innovations that promote sustainable development and a taste for happiness. The products of our Quebec based company are available throughout Canada.

Kirkland, QC, September 6, 2022 – Rosefellow, a leading real estate developer, and the Town of Kirkland announced the construction of three energy-efficient LEED-certified buildings in a $300 million+ project aligned with the city’s industrial and sustainable development plan. This major industrial project, which favorably positions the municipality in western Montreal’s economic development landscape, will be located on a prized 1.3 million square-foot lot in its northwest sector.

Work will begin in the spring of 2023 and take place over a period of one year on this signature project inspired by thoughtful and sustainable design characteristics that align with the City of Kirkland and Rosefellow ‘s desires to create a high-end cutting edge industrial hub.

The acquisition by Rosefellow of this city-owned lot represents a major gain for the company. “We are setting the bar high! We will use 100 years of combined experience to build an exceptional project that will make Kirkland shine on a national scale. This high-end industrial development will attract some of Canada’s most renowned tenants. We would like to thank the city for the trust they placed in us, and above all, for believing in Rosefellow’s vision,” said Mike Jager, Rosefellow’s co-founder and co-owner.

Rosefellow will install a wall not far from the residential area located near the new industrial campus in order to preserve neighboring residents’ safety, sight lines, and tranquility. The wall’s precise location remains to be confirmed.

Rosefellow has headed several large-scale industrial real estate projects during the past year. These include construction of a cold storage warehouse for Congébec in Mascouche, a new Nespresso distribution center located in Pointe-Claire, and an industrial hub in Casselman, Eastern Ontario, where Ford Canada has rented out space.

Swimming in the open water
NICOLAS KNAP TO COMPLETE A 16 KM SWIM DOWN THE
ST. LAWRENCE RIVER:  FROM CAP-ROUGE TO PORT DE QUÉBEC

Quebec, August 15th, 2022 –Village Nordik, in partnership with the Port de Québec Oasis, will cheer a 16 kilometer swim on August 20th by “marathon” swimmer Nicolas Knap, down the St. Lawrence River. Knap will make his journey from Cap-Rouge to the Port de Québec to promote access to open water and Harbour bath as well as the benefits of physical activity.

“Contrary to popular belief, the water quality in the river is fine for urban swimming. We hope that Knap’s inaugural swim will herald the start of an annual tradition that will promote swimming at the Port de Québec Oasis,” said Marc-Olivier D’Amours, general manager of Village Nordik du Port de Québec, a non-profit organization whose mandate is to promote year-round recreational tourism at Bassin Louise.

A 16 kilometer course in cold water
Knap’s plan is to swim along the St. Lawrence River starting at the Cap-Rouge Marina (not far from the boat ramp) to Quai Saint-André adjoining the recently inaugurated Port de Québec Oasis.

The 16 kilometer swim, which is expected to last approximately two hours depending on weather conditions, will include five legs:

Departure from Marina de Cap-Rouge at 4:25 p.m.

Leg 1: Pont de Québec/Quai des Cageux
Knap will swim past Parc de la Plage Jacques-Cartier, and then under the arches of Quebec City’s two main bridges to Quai des Cageux and then in the waters alongside Promenade Samuel-De Champlain.

Leg 2: Jetée de Sillery
Knap will pass by Quai des Brumes, Quai des Hommes, and Quai des Vents during his journey around Parc de la Jetée de Sillery.

Leg 3: Anse au Foulon
During this leg Knap will swim past Anse St-Michel, in front of Anse-au-Foulon and past the Yacht Club de Québec.

Leg 4: Bassin Brown/Anse des Mères
Knap will head towards Bassin Brown (Anse des Mères) not far from the staircase near Cap Blanc.

Leg 5: Musée Naval de Québec
Knap will then pass Promenade Samuel-De Champlain, the citadelle de Québec, the coast guard, the Château Frontenac, and Place des Canotiers and then enter the Port de Québec and swim along the Musée Naval de Québec.

Arrival at the Port de Québec between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (*depending on weather conditions)
Knap will pass through the locks and will touch Quai Saint-André, at Port de Québec Oasis.

“Swimming is a great way to discover and promote the river! Enthusiasts can follow my journey while doing physical activity, either walking or rolling along the shore of the St. Lawrence. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the river, the landscapes and to promote open water swimming, which is a magnificent sport,” says Knap.

The swimmer’s entire journey and coordinates will be recorded using a high-performance GPS. The swim can thus be followed live on smart devices via the tracks.rs system, on social networks and on Knap’s personal website (nicolasknap.com).

Supervision and security
A two-boat team will escort Mr. Knap throughout his swim, in order to ensure that the event runs smoothly, that he is safe at all times, and to provide supplies and directions as needed.

Port de Québec Oasis, which is located in Bassin Louise close to Espace 400e was inaugurated last July when it became North America’s first harbour bath. The public will be able to enjoy free swimming and the terrace until September 10*.

A COLOSSAL $70 MILLION INDUSTRIAL FREEZER TO BE BUILT ON THE NORTH SHORE OF MONTREAL

Mascouche, Quebec, March 17, 2022 – Congebec, Quebec’s largest multi-temperature food processing, distribution, and logistics company, has signed a long-term lease at a development that will become the company’s first major cold storage facility located on Montreal’s North Shore. This crucial infrastructure project, which will be developed through a joint venture partnership between Rosefellow, a real estate developer, and Skyline Commercial REIT, will be located in Mascouche and is expected to substantially increase Quebec’s food autonomy.

This $70 million development will include a new 219,000 square foot state-of-the-art cold storage facility that will enable food producers in the region to store inventories closer to their operations, creating efficiencies within the supply chain.

Construction of the building, which will begin this spring, is expected be completed in 2023. The facility will be equipped with an innovative CObased refrigeration system that is more eco-responsible and safer than conventional ammonia-based systems.

The lease commitment represents Congebec’s first major new facility to open in Quebec in more than ten years, and brings the company’s strategic Canadian network of cold storage facilities to thirteen properties that extend across Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

“This project represents a bit of a homecoming for us. As a key link between food production and consumption, we want to continue to support this industry in which our company got its start. The pandemic and the supply issues of the past few months have enabled us to refocus on our customers’ needs right here at home. This new space will contribute to the growth of the region’s food chain and to the food autonomy of Quebec as a whole,” said Nicholas-P. Pedneault, Congebec’s President and CEO.

More than $2 billion worth of food products pass through Congebec’s cold storage facilities each year. The company’s 500 employees generate more than $1 billion in annual economic activity and spinoffs in the local agri-food industry. The Mascouche facility alone is expected to generate approximately $500 million in annual economic activity.

Congebec’s cold storage facility which will be built by real estate developer Rosefellow and its partner Skyline Commercial REIT group, is expected to be completed in 2023.

MASCOUCHE, A STRATEGIC CHOICE
The new building, which will be owned by Skyline Commercial REIT and Rosefellow, will be built in the Mascouche Industrial Park, at the corner of rue Louis-Blériot and Avenue de la Gare. This represents an increasingly strategic location for companies looking to conduct business north of the Laval market, which is becoming more and more competitive.

“This first foray into the North Shore of Montreal marks an important step for Rosefellow. We chose Mascouche because it is a proactive city in terms of development. We are proud to erect an industrial building for a client as prestigious as Congebec in partnership with Skyline Commercial REIT,” said Mike Jager, co-founder of Rosefellow.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rosefellow and Skyline Commercial REIT’s multi-tenant industrial project to the Centroparc, and with the arrival of Congebec. Mascouche becomes the first city on the North Shore to have been selected by Rosefellow and its partners for this major investment. This once again demonstrates the attractiveness of Mascouche’s industrial park,” said Guillaume Tremblay, mayor of Mascouche.

“Skyline Commercial REIT’s relationship with Congebec began in 2018 with the acquisition of eight cold storage facilities located across Canada. We are excited to grow this relationship and to increase the REIT’s investment in the cold storage sector, which continues to enjoy solid growth globally. This project aligns with our property development strategy which aims to deliver a pipeline of modern, well-located logistics and warehousing assets in key markets,” said Michael Mackenzie, president of Skyline Commercial REIT.
