Dermago is coming to Great Britain
A fast-growing Quebec dermatology services provider crosses the pond

Quebec City, February 24th , 2022 – The Dermago virtual dermatology platform, a Canadian-based pioneer in asynchronous telemedicine* is partnering with Dr. Magnus Lynch, a leading London dermatologist, to offer teleconsultations to patients throughout Great Britain. The move represents a first major step in the British market for this young, fast-growing Quebec company.

“There is strong demand for dermatology services in the UK due in part to a limited number of dermatologists, especially outside major urban centres,” said Dr. Marc- André Doré, co-founder of Dermago and a professional dermatologist by training. “Our innovative technology and the new partnership between dermago and Dr. Lynch will provide broader access to user-friendly virtual consultations to a greater number of people and thus make life easier for both patients and specialists.”

“Skin conditions are extremely common, often having a major impact on patients’ physical and psychological health, yet many patients find it hard to get an appointment with a dermatologist due to long waiting lists and the relatively high cost of traditional private dermatology consultations. Asynchronous telemedicine has the potential to provide convenient and affordable treatment for straightforward skin complaints. This approach has been pioneered by Dermago in Canada and I look forward to working together with Dr Doré and the team to develop this technology in the UK.” said Dr. Magnus Lynch, Consultant Dermatologist.

Dermago.co.uk : Dr Magnus Lynch, Consultant Dermatologist

Nearly 20,000 Canadian patients have used Dermago’s platform to see a dermatologist since the company was founded, nearly half of them in the past year alone. The company’s growth prospects in the British market, which is almost twice the size as Canada’s, are thus highly promising.

According to the British Medical Association, there are now over six million people waiting for National Health Service (NHS) care. Demand for treatment outstripped capacity even before COVID-19, so it is no surprise that backlogs and longer waiting times for patients have increased. In a study conducted by NHS England last year, Dermatology was one of the services that was being heavily affected.

It will be the first time that this targeted asynchronous telemedicine technology will be implemented on British territory. The platform on which Dermago is based can be adapted for use in any jurisdiction or territory. The company expects to enter other promising international markets in the near future.

AN INCREASING FOCUS ON THE SECURITY OF PATIENT DATA
The Dermago solution is now powered by Oro Health, a technology which facilitates communications between patients and dermatologists that are as secure as if they took place in person in a doctor’s office, and which is compliant with the strictest Canadian (PIPEDA), European (GDPR) and American (HIPAA) medical information standards.

The Oro Health team, which is constantly advancing new technologies, is expected to soon unveil new artificial intelligence based features that will help general practitioners make more accurate preliminary diagnoses.

ABOUT DERMAGO
Founded in Quebec in 2017, Dermago is the first 100% virtual clinic that offers patients fast, direct and safe access to a dermatologist for the treatment of minor skin conditions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, loss of hair and psoriasis. The Company is the brainchild of Dr. Marc-André Doré and Dr. Émilie Bourgeault, two dermatologists who seek to improve access to care for Canadian patients. The service, which is backed by a team of seven recognized dermatologists, is available in all Canadian provinces, except Saskatchewan, and in Great Britain.

*Asynchronous telemedicine, unlike conventional telemedicine, does not require appointments to be made between the patient and the doctor. The exchanges are rather continuous and flexible via instant messaging, at the convenience of both parties. This greatly facilitates time management for all who are involved in the process.

A significant expansion in Eastern Ontario
FORD CANADA SETS UP A MAJOR DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN CASSELMAN

Casselman, Ontario, September 17, 2021 – Rosefellow, Bertone Development, The Municipality of Casselman, and The Nation Municipality announced today the creation of a major industrial hub alongside Highway 417. Ford of Canada, the anchor tenant in this new 3 million square foot development will set up an auto parts distribution center on the site that will service Eastern Ontario and Quebec.

Ford’s distribution center will occupy approximately half of the square footage of the new development. The initial building, which will be built by real estate developer Rosefellow and its partner Bertone Development, is expected to exceed 500,000 square feet in size. Landscaping work began this summer on the job site which should be active until February 2023.

Rosefellow and Bertone Development both have corporate cultures centered on the importance of building better for the future. Ford of Canada’s distribution center will be built in strict compliance with all applicable environmental standards. Numerous additional features will be implemented to minimize the facility’s carbon footprint. These range from the installation of charging bays to facilitate the use of electric cars, to a white roof which will minimize energy consumption, a motion detector lighting system, and more.

The Municipality of Casselman is also assessing a study related to the development of the southern portion of the 417, which highlights the benefits of equipping this highly-prized area with municipal infrastructure to accommodate other similar projects.

DEVELOPING EASTERN ONTARIO

Rosefellow and Bertone Development, which already own the land on which the new distribution center will be built, have made a commitment to the Municipality of Casselman and The Nation Municipality to acquire land at the east and west of the facilities which are being built for Ford of Canada to further develop the area.

The 1.5 million square feet will enable Rosefellow and Bertone Development to build additional state-of-the-art buildings. An initial 130,000 square foot facility will be developed on the Eastern lot portion. A second 400,000 square feet building will follow on the western lot portion. Future tenants will be announced at a later date.

Rosefellow and Bertone Development currently already manage 8.5 million square feet of developable land, including 3.2 million in Quebec and Ontario. This new initiative aligns perfectly into the company’s vision of playing a key role in industrial real estate development in the Canadian market.

Ford’s distribution center, which will be built by real estate developer Rosefellow and its partner Bertone Development, is expected to exceed 500,000 square feet in size.

QUOTES

On behalf of the Municipality, I would like to thank Ford of Canada for selecting Casselman to house its distribution center. A special thank you to the Bertone brothers and to Rosefellow for having contributed to this wonderful project which will promote Casselman’s economic development and that of the United Counties of Prescott & Russell.”
Daniel Lafleur, Mayor, Municipality of Casselman

Nation Municipality is pleased at the arrival of Ford of Canada in Casselman and in Nation. We worked hard with real estate developer Rosefellow, Bertone Development, and the Municipality of Casselman to bring this magnificent project to fruition. This represented exceptional teamwork that deserves to be highlighted and provides further proof that Eastern Ontario remains a destination of choice for businesses. This is excellent news, and our beautiful region will benefit greatly.”
François St-Amour, Mayor, The Nation Municipality

“Companies are increasingly demanding larger facilities to house their operations. The average size of the floor space that tenants are asking for is currently 175,000 square feet. That is more than double what they were looking for five years ago. Technologies are advancing faster than ever, and we must offer our clients access to them. We are proud that Ford of Canada has chosen to work with us.”
Mike Jager, co-founder, Rosefellow

“Bertone Development is thrilled to team up with Rosefellow on this project, which has undergone considerable preparation work. This is a unique opportunity to work with Ford of Canada, a renowned partner. Bertone’s development projects lead to strong relationships with our commercial and industrial tenants. This is precisely what we want to recreate here.”

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SPECIALIZED TELEMEDICINE PIONEER ORO HEALTH CLOSES $3 MILLION FUNDING ROUND

Montreal, August 11, 2021 – ORO Health, a pioneer in specialized telemedicine, virtual health care, and the developer of the highly successful DermaGo platform, announced today that it has raised $3 million in seed round financing. The mix of capital and loans came from a range of private investors including Canadian healthtech veteran MCI Onehealth, the private group of investors TGIC2  and Desjardins Capital.

The funds will enable ORO Health to accelerate development of its advanced asynchronous telemedicine* platform and its distinctive business model, which targets medical clinics that want to leverage the technology’s full potential to improve productivity and boost access to patient care.

“The future of medicine is increasingly being driven by virtual healthcare,” said Dr. Emilie Bourgeault, a dermatologist and co-founder of ORO Health. “The confidence that investors have demonstrated in ORO Health’s vision is a testament to the seriousness of our asynchronous telemedicine platform project, and to the urgency of responding to the growing needs of Canadian patients and clinicians.”

The artificial intelligence powered technology developed by ORO Health, will provide patients across the country with greater access to medical professionals as well as the ability to obtain reliable, rapid and secure care, at any time in the comfort of their homes.

RAPID GROWTH BUSINESS MODEL

ORO Health emerged alongside the dazzling success of DermaGO, Canada’s first private dermatology telemedicine clinic, which was founded in 2018 by Dr. Bourgeault, and her two partners, Dr. Marc-André Doré, a dermatologist, and Jean-Philippe Doré, a business analyst.

During its first two years in operation, DermaGO enabled 10,000 Canadian patients to obtain a diagnosis from a certified dermatologist for minor skin conditions in just a few hours, without the need for a prior referral from a general practitioner. The COVID-19 pandemic provided considerable momentum to DermaGO which registered rapid growth approaching 700% this spring, compared to the same period last year.

QUOTES

“We are very pleased to be investing in ORO Health to fund the next stage of DermaGO’s development.  Dermatological concerns requiring a specialist consultation are a frequent driver of both walk-in and family medicine visits.  Being able to provide such patients with access to user-friendly technologies and highly-responsive specialist consults, supported by strong analytics, is part of our vision to realize the promise of personalized and precision medicine, one which we believe is shared by ORO Health”

– Dr. Alexander Dobranowski, MD, CEO of MCI

“The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us the immense opportunities offered by telemedicine. We are proud to support the development of a unique solution by the Montreal-based medtech ORO Health.”

– Marie-Hélène Nolet, Chief Operating Officer, Desjardins Capital

“The technology that drives ORO Health is developing at a rapid pace. It possesses an incredible potential et it is destined to a strong and promising future within the Canadian medical ecosystem. TGIC2 is proud to have the opportunity to contribute to this success story.”

– Michel Noël, CA, CPA, member of the group TGIC2

Two talented engineers on a mission to democratize smart city

Two talented engineers on a mission to democratize smart city 440 247 Fernandez relations publiques

PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release

TWO TALENTED ENGINEERS ON A MISSION TO DEMOCRATIZE SMART CITY
With its open GPS tracking technology, niosense connects traffic signals to make traffic smoother and reduce GHG emissions.

Montreal (Quebec), May 31, 2021 – Quebec start-up niosense announces the deployment of its intelligent traffic signal management solution in the City of Trois-Rivières. This showcase will allow the young technological company to demonstrate the effectiveness of its product, which promises to generate fuel savings for fleets, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and better manage heavy traffic in urban areas to minimize nuisance.

“Reducing GHGs is a global issue. We are delighted that the City of Trois-Rivières has adopted our technology. We will quickly have data to show the benefits of this approach for all municipalities in Quebec and, hopefully, communities around the world, ”explains Patrick Lauzière, President and CEO of niosense.

UP TO EIGHT KILOS OF GHG AT EACH STOPS

Using the GPS tracking system offered by the company, municipalities make sure to optimize traffic management on their territory by making truck traffic smoother and safer at traffic lights. Knowing that each stop-start of a heavy truck can produce up to eight (8) kilos of GHGs, the use of the niosense technology supports municipalities in a concrete way in achieving their reduction targets of GHG emission.

Note that 42% of GHGs emitted in Quebec come from the transportation industry. To achieve GHG reductions through fuel savings and provide time savings and convenience for heavy truck fleet managers, niosense relies on its innovative and original solution.

“The important thing is to respect the fact that mobility belongs to everyone. We believe that only those with business models that leave to cities the ownership of their data as well as complete autonomy on their road operations will be accepted by citizens and, ultimately, may have a chance of success” – says Patrick Lauziere.

Moreover, niosense is among the projects selected for the technological showcase in land transport and sustainable mobility 2020-2021 of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI). The $ 350,000 grant was confirmed yesterday afternoon during the official announcement of the MEI, in the presence of Propulsion Québec as well as IVÉO, a leading partner who contributed to setting up the project within the framework. The company was also selected by the Center of Excellence in Energy Efficiency (C3E), which supports niosense in its mission and accompanies it in its growth through a second funding of $ 350,000. Other funding and partnership announcements will be unveiled shortly.

OPEN TECHNOLOGY

Developed using open and secure technologies, the solution offered by niosense has the advantage of being easily integrated into existing IT infrastructures. It also allows municipal computer network managers to add additional functions and to adjust services and management according to specific needs or traffic-related demands.

This solution, unlike those usually proposed, does not require any new expenditure for the cities and their citizens, since it is connected via the already existing municipal structures.

“We firmly believe that it is high time for people and systems to talk to each other. And we have a solution to create a link between the partners so that this data can be used for infrastructures to take the right action, in the right place, at the right time. Whether it is through air quality, a better environment for citizens, savings for businesses, or the fluidity of the road network, everyone will be a winner. », concludes Patrick Lauzière.

ABOUT NIOSENSE
Founded in 2020 by two engineers (Patrick Lauzière and David Préville) niosense offers an intelligent technological solution that is connected to traffic signals. Its mission is to democratize the use of new technologies to improve mobility. To achieve this, niosense relies on an approach in partnership with cities to reduce GHGs globally and by optimizing the movements of the most energy-consuming vehicles.

Coractive continues to grow; creating 30 new jobs in the Quebec City region

Quebec, April 22nd, 2021 – Coractive and a team of financial partners today announced an investment of more than $34 million in the construction of a new state-of-the-art fiber optic production facility to be located in the Quebec City region. The 75,000 square foot facility will quintuple the company’s production capacity and create 30 high value-added jobs by 2023.

It is a timely investment for Coractive, which generates 95 % of its revenues abroad. The new and modern building and the advanced equipment that will be set up in the facility will enable the company to increase its production of fiber optic products and to boost output quality.

Desjardins Entreprises–Québec-Portneuf (a $16 million loan) and Quebec City (grant of $ 1 million through the Vision entrepreneuriale Québec 2026 program) also participated.

Construction of Coractive’s new plant will start this summer in l’Espace d’innovation Michelet, in Quebec City.

A leader in Quebec
Rosefellow launches Quebec’s first industrial real estate investment fund

Montreal, April 13 2021 – Rosefellow announced today the launch of Quebec’s first investment fund dedicated to the development of next generation industrial projects. Numerous investors including the Toronto-based Skyline Group contributed to the $100 million initiative, which will be led by one of the province’s leading real estate development teams.

“The exceptional speed with which investors responded to our vision is a testament to the confidence they have in Rosefellow,” said Mike Jager, who cofounded the leading Montreal firm with Sam Tsoumas. “It also demonstrates the Quebec industrial real estate sector’s growing vitality and its ability to adapt in response to the rapid growth of online commerce. We are proud to contribute to these developments.”

The new investment vehicle, – which will be known as “RF Limited Partnership I”  – will foster the construction of industrial buildings worth more than $500 million dollars during the next seven years.

GROWING DEMAND FOR INDUSTRIAL SPACE
The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting explosion in demand for e-commerce services have created the need for more efficient supply chains and larger warehouses.“Companies are looking for much more spacious premises,” said Tsoumas. “Tenants are currently asking for facilities with about 175,000 square feet of available space on average. That is more than double the area they were asking for five years ago. Current demand is running in the millions of square feet.”Rosefellow’s new fund recently acquired land at 6000 Trans-Canada Highway in Pointe Claire and 2800 André Avenue in Dorval. These two large plots, which total nearly 1.8 million square feet, will host almost 900,000 square feet of industrial Class A space with 36 feet high ceilings, which are an essential feature for industrial tenants.

These two projects come in addition to two other large industrial properties that Rosefellow acquired prior the official launch of the fund. These included:

  • A 670,000 square foot lot located in Pointe-Claire where construction of a 325,000 square foot facility will begin in June
  • A 515,000 square-feet plot in Montreal East where construction of two multi-tenant industrial buildings comprising 138,000 square feet each began in late March.

In all Rosefellow’s holdings will comprise more than 1.5 million square feet of industrial space. The company also plans to further drive innovation by constructing industrial buildings that are two stories in height, which are currently a rarity east of Toronto.

Rosefellow is also in discussion with investors to raise between $125 million and $150 million to finance an additional investment fund, in response to the enthusiasm generated by its first initiative.

One of the first projects to be financed by Rosefellow’s new fund will be located at 2800, André Avenue, in Dorval.

In March, Rosefellow has begun the construction of a 138,000 square foot ultra-modern industrial building in Montreal East.

A similar building will rise at 151, Reverchon St., in Pointe-Claire, starting in June.

ABOUT ROSEFELLOW
Rosefellow was founded by two former competitors in Montreal’s growing real estate industry who later became friends then business partners. The firm has grown into one of the city’s leading development and property management players. Rosefellow designs, builds and manages residential, commercial and industrial properties that constantly push the boundaries of sustainable innovation. Their successes include Le Cent-Onze, a residential rental project located in Ville St-Laurent, which is expected to be delivered in the summer 2022.

The market is moving fast, and we have no desire to play catchup and chase it when we can influence where it goes. These goals drove us to found Yellow Brick Games.”

Skalski, an American by birth who adopted Québec City as his home in 2014, is surrounded by a great team. Yellow Brick Games’ Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Giroux, has a particularly strong track record. Following a successful decade-long career at Ubisoft Montréal, Giroux founded Sunny Side Up Creative, a video games marketing agency, which was later acquired by global video game service provider Keywords Studios, in 2019.

Skalski and Giroux are thrilled to have Mike Laidlaw join as Chief Creative Officer to lead Yellow Brick Games’s new development team. Laidlaw, who is regarded as one of the pillars behind the award-winning series Dragon Age and much-loved classic Jade Empire, is also based in Québec City.

“The market for independently produced games is growing rapidly and the technology is keeping pace,” said Laidlaw. “Small, diverse teams can now create high-quality experiences. For veterans of big-studio productions like myself and much of our team, this is the perfect time to get back to a small, agile, and highly motivated group. We want our games here at Yellow Brick to take potentially millions of players on wonderous journeys, and we want every member of our team to have a direct impact on the new worlds we’re creating.”

Frédéric St-Laurent B., a well-established figure in Québec City’s video game industry who contributed to the success of many projects at Ubisoft and Sarbakan, will take on the role of Game Director within the new team. “The rise of remote work has rewritten the rules and is opening up opportunities to recruit talent from around the world. We have additional employees based in Montreal and other countries, but we couldn’t be more proud and happier to be doing this from the heart of Québec City,” said St-Laurent.

Yellow Brick Games is already quite busy for a new studio. Its fifteen employees are currently creating a first original game that will leverage the capabilities of the next generation gaming platforms. Given the magnitude of the task, the team will grow during the coming months and years. However, the “craftmanship approach” will remain the new company’s core vision.

“We want to emphasize a “back-to-basics approach”, centered on the pleasure of crafting new game experiences, in a flexible and more personable environment that an independent studio can provide,” said Giroux. “We have all the resources at our disposal to achieve our goals.”

Quebec City, September 15, 2020 – The fourth edition of iA Financial Group’s Canada-wide philanthropic contest is officially launched! iA Financial Group, one of the biggest insurance and wealth management companies in Canada, is calling on charities working in the healthcare, education and social services sectors to answer the question “How could a donation of $100,000 help you get your activities back up and running, start a project or pursue your mission?”. The ten charities that win the public’s hearts and minds will share donations totalling nearly $400,000.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on a lot of organizations, many of which need a hand. These challenging times call for goodwill, mutual aid and generosity in order to help others. It’s in this spirit that we are proud to provide financial support to Canadian charities. We invite them to enter the contest in large numbers”, stated Denis Ricard, President and CEO of iA Financial Group.

At the end of the contest period ending October 15, a jury will pick the top ten submissions which will be presented to the public on November 2. The public will then have the opportunity to vote for the most inspiring submissions. The winners will be announced on December 10.

This year, three major donations of $100,000 will be made to the charities that receive the most votes. The seven remaining finalists will each receive a $10,000 donation. iA Financial Group’s 7,500 employees will also vote on their favourite charity, which will receive a special donation of $30,000.

Contest details and the complete list of eligibility criteria are available at ia.ca/contest-donations.
